Fois Na Mara go to the Toitu Settlers museum - 11th Oct 2013

We had a spare hour so decided to take a quick trip to the Settlers museum in Dunedin (Toitu).
We are regular visitors as it is as entrance is free so we love to pop in when we can, even if it's just for a quick look. This way we can look at the new sections as they are developed.
A fabulous way to spend a rainy afternoon is to wander round all the exhibits or on a sunny day sneak in a cheeky coffee in the light, airy sun-drenched glass walled cafe area (Ironic @ Toitu)

The seeds are planted..... - 1st Oct 2013

The frosts are gone.......

We have been busy in the garden and after lots of clearing, composting and mulching we have planted our first big batch of vegetable and herb seeds for the season.
Our glasshouse is now home to 16 tomato plants, lets hope this year we don't get any unwanted visitors and we can be enjoying the delicious red delights until late Autumn.....

14 Fledglng chicks at Albatross Colony - 28th Sep 2013

14 Fledglng chicks at Albatross Colony It is coming to the end of September and there are 14 chicks yet to fledge from the colony, they are waiting for the wind to pick them up and take them out to the great southern ocean.

Breeding parents are slowly arriving back to Taiaroa Head after their long trip around the southern oceans to start what is hopefully another very productive season.

How lucky are we to have the Albatross Colony on the Otago Peninsula on our doorstep......
